Don loved being a machinist. This passion led him to the creation of Apex Engineering in his own workshop. Don enjoyed working with his hands, he could fix just about everything you brought to him. Don loved tinkering with metals and woods in his workshop, making many projects for family and friends to treasure for years. Don loved riding and working on motorcycles, especially dirt bikes. Don spear-headed the revitalization of the park in Allen Grove in the 1990’s. Don enjoyed metal detecting in local parks and beaches, unearthed trinkets and treasures on his adventures. Don could be found riding his bicycle around the Grove when the weather was warm, visiting with neighbors and collecting vegetables along the way. Over the years, Don and Kitty had the pleasure of owning dogs. When he wasn’t riding his bike, he might be found walking one of the furry companions in the Grove. The dog would accompany Don and Kitty into town on their errands with a window rolled down in all kinds of weather. Don fancied himself as a care-taker of the history of his beloved Allen Grove, collecting artifacts from the town he called home from his birth to his passing.
